• Vivonex Pediatric is a nitrogen containing elemental (100% free amino acids) diet designed for children 1-10 years of age for enteral nutrition.
• The Vivonex Pediatric elemental diet is an effective alternative for total parenteral nutrition (TPN), except in patients where enteral feeding may be contraindicated.
• Its high-essential to nonessential amino acid ratio with enhanced glutamine content and optimal quantity of protein-sparing carbohydrate, make it especially useful in stressed, catabolic children.
• The Vivonex Pediatric diet may further benefit those children with gastrointestinal impairment, requiring a feeding that permits maximal absorption with minimal digestion.

Instructions

Mixing Instructions: To prepare 250 ml of full strength (0.8 cal/ml) diet (1 packet):

• 1. Measure 220 ml (7-1/2 oz) of warm water into a 1 pint or larger container.
• 2. Add 1 packet of Vivonex Pediatric.
• 3. Cover and shake for 20 seconds.
• 4. For oral feeding add 1 Vivonex Flavor Packet. Any remaining undissolved particles will dissolve after standing 5-10 minutes.

Note: For larger quantities the container should be no more than 3/4 full after diet is added to water, and more time may be required to shake product into solution. The Vivonex Pediatric diet can also be blenderized if desired.

Tube Feeding:

• Administer at room temperature by continuous drip.

Oral Feeding:

• Mix with Vivonex Flavor Packets and serve chilled over ice.
• Optimal patient tolerance and a higher input can be achieved by drinking slowly or by tube feeding continuously.

Storage:

• When mixing, the Vivonex Pediatric diet may be left at room temperature for up to 8 hours or refrigerated for up to 48 hours. Store unopened powder at room temperature.
